Žene o ženama / Women about women
The exhibition gettering twenty female visual artists from the region, Serbia, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and North Macedonia. Through the direct cooperation of female curators and artists, we raise awareness of the female angle of observation and reaction to reality, in the sphere of art. In direct contact with artistic processes, living creative energy, the role of us curators is in the process of observation, collection, capture of the present and documentation. This is evidenced by the exhibition "Women About Women", which takes place in real and virtual space, physical and virtual reality.
Because only a woman knows what and how she feels.
Because a woman is a subject, not an object.
Zašto umetnost? Jer je najbliža istini/Why art? Because of the closeness to the truth.
Zašto region? Zbog potrebe umrežavanja/Why region? Because of the need for networking.
Zašto projekat? Da svedoči o sadašnjosti i prenese poruku/ To bear witness to the present and convey the message.
To nije oblikovana nečija vizija već trenutak izražavanja ženskih emocija u samom procesu/The topic of women is not new. Throughout the history of art, women have been and remain an inexhaustible motif. Inspiration for a woman carries antipodes in a specific way and rests somewhere on the line between borderline feelings towards her. A woman is a living organism and the best witness of our existence. Time passes and thoughts change, and so does the role of women in society. This exhibition is dedicated to the theme of women, but by women. It asks the question from the inside out, about her inner states of being. That is why it is an immediate and concrete, raw topic that opens up to the observer in direct communication. It is not shaped by someone's vision, but a moment of expression of female emotions in the process itself.
Svedoci smo da je uvek bilo žena koje se pojavljuju kao pojedinke i ostavljaju neizbrisiv trag u istoriji i društvu, a ova izložba okuplja više njih i nosi poruku o sadašnjosti./The idea of the exhibition was initiated by the awareness of women's increasing need for expression in an effort to influence the new context of reaction to reality. She actively participates in contemporary creativity, she is no longer an object of adoration or hatred, beauty or ugliness, lust or fear. Focusing on the above, the aim of the exhibition is to provide an insight into women's creative aspects, to witness and document the present and activate the question to what extent social reality shapes women's artistic expression and how society influences women's creativity. We are witnesses that there have always been women who appear as individuals and leave an indelible mark on history and society, and this exhibition brings together more of them and carries a message about the present.
The exhibition "Women about women" is part of an international project with several activities. Showing a direct connection between art and social reality, the project starts with art because art is the closest to the truth and the most open to experience and further communication. The choice of female artists clearly indicates a combination of different forms of artistic expression, and the same basis - the echo of the inner female being and the need to release the strength she carries within herself, something like an artistically shaped scream, a thought from which an idea was born and formed a concept.
Ova izložba na neki način daje odgovor na mapiranje identiteta žene u savremenoj vizuelnoj umetnosti./In accordance with contemporary trends and new media, female artists express themselves in a unique way in different media, from paintings and drawings, through photography and sculpture, sculptural installations, video works and performances. The heterogeneity of visual expression is an inevitable phenomenon of the modern age, as well as the variety of media in which it is expressed. In addition to media, diversity is also visible in different approaches to female identities in contemporary art, from form and corporeality, through abstraction, to feminist artistic practices. In a way, this exhibition provides an answer to the mapping of women's identity in contemporary visual art.
Pored teritorija Zapadnog Balkana pridružiće se i teritorije u okvirima Evropske unije,/This, the first of two exhibitions of Women about Women, includes pre-selected artists who respond to the theme with their creativity, i.e. in whose expression the selectors recognized the contemporary identification with the role and needs of women. For the second exhibition, the selection will be made through an open call to young artists. The reason for this is to record the needs of youth and the original expression of female artists in the initial or early stages of artistic formation. In addition to the territories of the Western Balkans, territories within the framework of the European Union will also join.

Tanja Balać: MEMORABILIA:
To whom does the image belong to? Does it genealogically belong to the history of existence, does it belong to the final discourse that preserved its own shapes immortalizing them through balancing distortion or is it extracted from our memories and moved to a collective similarity characteristic of the passage of time that inevitably forces us to remember… certain places we have never known. In her creative circle Tanja Balać thematizes several essential issues that relate to contemporary expression, with strongly intertwined critical thought toward symbolic freedom and the fluctuation of the individual within societal contours, their memory and perceptive innateness for self-recognition in the hypothetical cognitive space of existence. Setting the potentials of the artistic proposition, the reception and the perception of the artistic work on a higher analytical level, she reexamines the possibilities of the aesthetical, inserting unique rhetorical points, which refer, above all, to the perception of the work, semiotically woven through disseminated narrative points in an aesthetic whole.
